As a kid I HATED All in the Family. I couldn't understand why they let such a hateful man as Archie Bunker on TV. Satire escaped me. Now I love the show and am always shocked when I see an episode and realise how relevant it is still today. Cheers to everyone involved in this show.

Another interesting thing to me is that I really resisted watching the show with my family because I didn't "like the way it looked." The texture and lighting of it depressed me. When I tried to explain why all I could come up with was that the look of it felt too soft and fabric-y. Too real and tangible. Now I realise what I was responding to was that it was shot on video. And just like today I preferred the look of film. Go figure...
